Transparent by design

How we score sweepstakes sites

ScamFactor is a comparative consumer-risk score from 1 to 10. Lower scores indicate fewer warning signs and less friction. It does not predict whether an individual entrant will win.

30% Transparency and winner proof

We look for accessible official rules, identifiable operators, clear contact information, winner lists, and credible evidence that advertised prizes are awarded.

25% Fulfillment and complaints

We review recurring complaint patterns, unresolved fulfillment reports, and evidence that the operator responds when prize delivery or account problems arise.

20% Entry model and gotchas

We flag unclear alternate entry methods, required purchases or tasks, confusing eligibility, hidden subscriptions, and forms that request more data than the promotion appears to need.

15% Opportunity realism

We compare prize value, drawing frequency, entry limits, and the likely size of the entrant pool. A legitimate promotion can still offer a very remote chance of winning.

10% Marketing pressure

We consider email and text volume, third-party offers, data-sharing disclosures, unsubscribe accessibility, and whether promotional follow-up is proportionate to the entry.

How reviews are maintained

Profiles are generated from a structured inventory and rescored weekly. We preserve the visible score, review date, source links, site type, unsubscribe information, and the concerns supporting each assessment. Missing evidence is identified rather than invented.

Scores can change when rules, ownership, fulfillment evidence, complaint patterns, or marketing practices change. Material sponsorship does not purchase a better score.

What SafeTracker does—and does not—verify

SafeTracker compares platforms and directories; it is not a regulator, law firm, or guarantee of legitimacy. Individual promotions may be operated by outside sponsors with different rules and privacy practices. Always read the official rules and never pay to claim a prize.

Corrections and evidence

Operators and readers can request a correction or submit primary-source evidence through our protected contact form. We do not publish the receiving email address. We favor official rules, operator disclosures, winner reports, and direct unsubscribe or privacy-control pages over unsupported claims.
